Your Margaret River Region

The Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association (MRBTA) is a self-funded, not-for-profit membership based organization, representing more than 800 local businesses in The Margaret River Region’s tourism and hospitality sector.

In addition to our representation of these local tourism operators, we are also responsible for high quality, award-winning visitor servicing through our Visitor Information Centres as well as the management of important natural and heritage assets within the region. This includes precious cave systems and the Cape Leeuwin and Cape Naturaliste Lighthouses.

MRBTA has recently undertaken major refurbishment and improvements at both lighthouse sites. We were pleased to contract this work to Tate Construction who have also worked with us on other projects such as the upgrading of the Margaret River Visitors centre.

Tate Construction are a long standing, highly respected business with excellent local knowledge, that takes pride in outcomes that enhance the Margaret River Region.

The lighthouse projects involved careful restoration of historic buildings under the guidance of specialist heritage architects with plans approved by the Heritage Council. In addition to restoring some of the cottages back to their original state, the project also entailed repurposing of heritage buildings (Cottage 1 at both lighthouses) in a manner that enables visitors to appreciate and interpret the original structures and layout. Tate Construction not only executed this work to a high standard, demonstrating a high degree of care and professionalism, but also contributed ideas that ultimately improved the outcomes of the project.

We found the management and trades personnel of Tate Construction to be skilled, responsive and flexible in all aspects of their work. They have taken the time to listen to, and understand, what we wanted to achieve, then contributed valuable advice to assist us in realising our outcomes.

MRBTA has no hesitation in recommending Tate Construction for projects where a sensitivity to client needs and heritage values are paramount, and I would be delighted to provide any further information via phone (0439 090 133) or email ().

Yours sincerely,
Steve Harrison
